I was at the FoD activities festival today and met Ben Searle. I bought a copy of your guide and I'm absolutely delighted with it! The detail on the map is amazing and I love the little extras like the names of the former collieries on the Family Trail (excellent for navigation) and speed limits on the major roads. Well done to all those who were involved in the compilation of the guide. I'm very, VERY impressed!

Cycling Guides are researched, ridden, written, photographed and published by Ben Searle. Over the years I have explored countless places by bike - much of the UK, Europe, Iceland, Nepal, Nicaragua - just to name a few!
With many years experience as a freelance journalist and photographer contributing to cycling publications (mainly Cycling Plus, Cycling UK's 'Cycle' and Haynes), and twenty-one years working for local government in cycling and sustainable travel, I know what to look for when researching new routes and guides. Clients have included Bristol City Council, Monmouthshire Council, Sustrans and Pedalabikeaway. I currently work part-time for North Somerset Council.
I can offer thorough research of a given area to provide the best cycle rides (and if required a detailed audit of where improvements would be helpful). For example, for local authorities, tourist boards and holiday companies. You may wish to promote the routes online, or I can work with you to publish printed maps and guides, either with your own design staff or to provide a finished product using my regular and very talented graphic designer!
Just get in touch in discuss any project you have in mind. Some examples of my work follow below.
