In 1933 Horace Dall made an extraordinary crossing of the interior of Iceland, by (or with!) a bicycle, alone and unaided except for assistance by boat across the mighty Tungnna River. His photos presented here with his own notes written on the backs of the photos tell the story... At the end of this gallery follow a few photos from a tour he made the previous year. See Across Unknown Iceland for an abbreviated version but with more information on the context of this journey, and more about Horace. For my account of this journey, by tandem, in Dall's wheel tracks, read Call of the Wild.
